Funeral of Michael Lalli
August 11, 2006

Friends and family said goodbye last month to Michael Lalli 92; a Brockton area jazz musician during a funeral concert in the Conley Funeral Home. Mr. Lalli’s career of teaching and performing was the benchmark on which his service was created. His children wanted his love of music and entertaining to be the message by which people remembered him. A full house stood, clapped and cheered as several fellow musicians lead by Dick Johnson of the Artie Shaw Orchestra said goodbye with an hour long “jam session”. Those joining Dick were his son Gary on drums; Louis Pelaggi on guitar; Tom Oliviere on sax; Kenny Wentzel on bass; Gerry Gottschalk on piano; Chris Counellis on sax and Joe Casano on trumpet. As this unique funeral concluded to the “Saints Come Marching In” the atmosphere was appropriately filled with the true sense of celebration for a life well lived.  Mr. Lalli was buried in Calvary Cemetery with a traditional catholic committal service and his musical friends playing the comforting sound of “Amazing Grace”.
